skiTraditionally, Christmas was spent in their mid-west home, with family coming over Christmas Eve for gift exchange, food and fun. Marv always made sure the lights were on the house the week after Thanksgiving. This year Wanda decided to take the kids on a ski vacation.  Flying into Boulder, Colorado, the sun was out and the snow was fresh. New traditions – that’s what the kids needed. Christmas with skiing, hot tubs and fires in their mountain bungalow would give them a fresh start. The first night, the kids were settled and Wanda sat by the fire with a glass of wine. The day had been filled with laughter and fun. But the quiet brought shadows and all she wanted to do was cry.

hikeJeff hiked ten miles and felt no closer to Barb. He had to get to her and felt like with every step he was getting further away. He was making progress, but not fast enough. When he got to her, the first thing he would do, is apologize for this crazy vacation idea. Just as the team took a water break, his radio came to life.

After three days at the beach, why did she feel no more relaxed?

Monica changed her route. The playground was too difficult; too sad. She relived the tragic day over and over. It was exhausting.  Tim was a help, but he didn’t understand.k2-Child-playground
